My Personal Story


Michael is a native Texan who has lived in Montgomery County since 1987. Along with his wife, Debbie, he is raising three sons: Jake, Josh, and John. Michael lives his strong Christian beliefs and is a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church where he has served as an usher and Sunday school teacher. He is also an active member of the community where he is a member of The Woodlands Rotary Club and is the Director of International Service for the 2005-2006 service year. Michael also served as the former Vice President of the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers organization and has managed and coached teams for Oakridge Woodlands Area Little League. When not spending his time with his family and community activities, Michael enjoys a good round of golf.

Michael's father was an attorney and counselor at law. His father exemplifies what Michael has come to admire most; someone exemplified and encouraged strong character, Christian values and self-discipline and shaped him into what he has become today. When Michael was choosing his career, his father stressed that he should find a profession he enjoyed knowing that the financial reward would eventually follow.

EDUCATION

Michael is a graduate from Stephen F. Austin University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. After two years as a joint venture accountant, he enrolled in the South Texas College of Law and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1986. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.



EXPERIENCE

Before starting his own law firm in 2000, Michael was with the firm of Stibbs & Burbach as the firm's principal real estate attorney and provided general legal counsel to its clients. Eventually, his client relationships evolved to include personal estate planning. His accounting background provided a solid foundation from which to create plans that encompassed business, estate and real estate.

Prior to joining Stibbs & Burbach, Michael spent 12 years with the Montgomery County Attorney's office with the last eight years as chief for the Real Estate Division. During this time he presented programs before state-wide continuing education conferences on the regulation and development of real estate. His real estate litigation experience includes the area of eminent domain having worked on the acquisition of right-of-way for State Highway 242, the widening of State Highway 105 and the acquisition of the Montgomery County Court House Annex.

His clients include developers, homeowner associations, contractors, small-to-medium size businesses, government entities and individuals.
